BATTLE: (6v6) [Jaydan Dischain] vs [Vincent Salamanece] ARENA: The streets of Mawvile City WEATHER: Dark, dreary and with medium to medium-heavy rain. ODDS IN FAVOR OF: 50/50 RULES: None "Son of a bitch..." "Dieno..."
Both trainer and Pokemon alike bitched and groveled at the heavy darkening of the skies as they began to climb down the mountains towards Mawvile. Their mood didn't improve when Dieno was splashed in the face by a fat rain drop, one that was followed by several thousand more. Mud gathered under his boots as Vinnie reached out to hold onto trees in order to keep his footing. The dragon Pokemon at his heels gave a cry, and bit down hard on his masters leg. Having been partners for some time now, Vinnie resisted the urge to kick back at his friend, and returned him to his Pokeball.
He was irritable with the rain, but not buffeted by it. Donned around his torso, arms and face was a Cooltrainer-brand, all-terrain, heavy-duty jacket that he had picked up in Fortree city. It was heavy, black-and-yellow, and built to either disperse or retain heat, depending on which way he flipped the inside layer. It had kept him cool and shaded in the blistering sun, and toasty warm when crunching through the heavy snow.
He peered out towards the ever-nearing city from underneath his hood.
He wondered where Jaydan was.
A few minutes passed, and Vincent found himself base-ball sliding down the muddy hill and coming to a stumbling stop on the pavement. Looking now, the city still seemed small, like he had viewed it from the top of the mountain. There was no one to be seen, but at least the lights were on in the petite, scattered buildings. Streetlights gave a strange glow in the thick rain, looking like sirens that Vinnie could follow straight to his death.
A strange form began to shape out the rain, some fifty-or-so yards away. It inched closer, and Vinnie recognized the shape as a person. A person a little shorter than him. A person with broader shoulders, and more intimidation in his walk than strut.
A person who was now drawing a pokeball from his side.
Vinnie smiled. He knew of only one kid who would challenge him to a battle, in the middle of the rainy street, despite how long it had been since they'd seen each other. The white-haired youth reached into one of the six pokeball pouches on his jacket and gave a thought to his choice before clicking the button, feeling his hand conform to fit the growing machine.

Jayden had arrived in Mauville the day before and had began searching for Vinnie. No one had seen a white haired teenager, but a traveler from the mountains said he had passed a boy heading this way in the mountains nearby. Jayden had been relieved to know his friend was on his way. The two had been separated for quite some time. Jayden had spent the night nearby and waited for the arrival of his friend.
The awaited day brought with it a massive rainstorm. Jayden sat under a shop entrance watching the slippery mountain path that would bring his Vinnie into town. Jayden was wearing his customary red leather jacket. His muddied combat boots splashed a nearby puddle and spilled water onto his black jeans. It wasn't ideal weather for a reunion but one can't help what mother nature decides.
Jayden looked at his right arm and grinned, he was wearing his newest invention, known as a pokeshot. It was an arm mountain pokeball launcher that allowed for a trainer to shoot their pokeballs with more force and accuracy than normal. Jayden had used it many times since be made it while separated for Vinnie and was excited to see what his best friend thought of the new tool.
His thoughts were interrupted as he saw a figure approaching, the white hair and grumpy slouch gave Vinnie away instantly. Jayden smiled and walked out into the middle of the street and then forward towards his friend. He had decided this was how he would meet Vincent, not as a friend welcoming another, but as a rival testing his counter after a period of absence. Jayden's last battle with Vincent had been while they were back at the academy, and Jayden had lost miserably. Though the two had traveled together since, Jayden held his desire to prove he was Vinnie's equal.
AS Vinnie approached Jayden pulled out his pokeball from the pouch on his back and held it out. He watched as worldessly Vincent did the same. Good, he gets it. We will let our battle talk for us" Jayden thought as he seamlessly loaded the ball into his launcher, closed the hatch and fired. The ball shot out at a rapid speed and out from it burst a small, lightning fast set of wings and pincers.
"Go Ninjo, Metal CLaw" Jayden called as his Ninjask tore across the open air between him and Vincent. A white glow eminated from the two claws on Ninjask body and it brought them up up to deliver a blow as it sped forward.
"I hope his reflexes are as good as ever, cause I intend to hold nothing back." Jayden thought

Vinnie smiled, and took a small step to the right.
Ninjask streaked past him like a bullet, and he could've sworn he saw a few pieces of ivory hair float away from his head.
In a flash of white, and a cry of "Bay!~," Vinnie's loyal friend cantered out onto the street, his yellow skin glistening under the coat of rain he was starting to put on. The grass Pokemon jumped back and forth a little, keeping a close watch on Ninjask as his lightning-fast opponent was coming in for another assault. Bayleef flipped his head and gave a cry, the buds around his neck glowing vibrantly. As Ninjask grew closer, a brilliant beam of sunlight came spearing through the clouds and blinded the bug Pokemon, making it easy for Bayleef to canter out of the way. More sunlight came through, and the clouds began to burn away. Some people moved their curtains out of the way in awe, and saw the street bathed in sunlight, while the rest of the city was being hammered with fat rain drops.
Vinnie drew a cigarette from a pack in his jacket and struck it, happy to have a few turns of dry before the precipitation snuffed it out. Bayleef happily grounded himself and began to spin the leaf on his head as his buds started to glow and flash like a rave. Leaves came in on a pine-cented wind and circled around the pokemon, each one like a misplaced Christmas light.
"Magical leaf, now!" Vinnie barked, pointing to the opponent who was zooming in for another strike. Bayleef swung his head around one more time, sending the tornado of brilliantly flashing and razor-sharp leaves barreling towards Ninjask.
Vinnie bit his lip and took another drag of his cigarette, bouncing on the balls of his feet and watching everything that was taking place. Jayden knew that Vinnie would be looking for every opportunity to fake him out, and Vinnie knew he knew.
So maybe it was time for something new.

Jayden smiled as Ninjo streaked past Vincent. He expected nothing less from his friend. He had seen Vincent handle situations that could make grown men cry and keep his cool. Vincent's bayleef appeared and Jayden had the urge to swear. That flashy, effeminate bayleef had always had a way of slipping out of difficult situations and having Vincent lead with it made it all the trickier.
Ninjask's second strike was cleverly dodged as sun poured into the area. Jayden savored the lapse in rain. He had sat in the downpour all day waiting for his friend and having a chance to dry out was nice. Jayden smiled as Vinnie lit up. The two had shared many a pack in their time together and Jayden pulled out his own pack Of Camerupt Lights and lit the tip. Inhaling the cigarette Jayden watched as the leaf headed Pokemon prepared its assault and Vinnie shouted his command.
Jayden honed in on Ninjask's location and watched as it's skin shone white as it's speed boost ability took effect. Jayden loved his Ninjask as a lead in battle. The longer it fought the faster it got. The tornado of leaves shot at Ninjask and Jayden made a quick decision.
"Ninjo, Aerial Ace!" He bellowed.
Magical leaf was an attack that always hit its target, and so was aerial ace. Jayden was going to have to take a hit to make a hit. Ninjask body coated in a white light and it shot through the tornado of leaves. The leaves slashed across Ninjask dealing damage, but Jayden was confident in his flying pokemon's type advantage to minimalize the damage. Ninjask flew through the tornado and out the other side streaking towards it's opponent.
Vincent always held the upper hand in their battles, but Jayden was determined to hold his own.
"This isn't the academy anymore. I can do this." He thought to himself as he took another drag on his cigarette.

Vinnie sighed, smoke slipping out from between his lips.
Jayden fell for it.
As Ninjask darted in, the flurry of the flashing leafy rave did its damage and made quite a confusion. Bayleef darted back and forth again like an anxious child, and gave a heavy cry when the bug pokemon slammed into his side. It was like time had slowed down in that moment of impact, and the white-haired youth smiled. In a puff of smoke, Bayleef disappeared, and a bruised up dummy fell to the street. The doll gave a small, toyish squeak when it landed.
"Bayleef, now!" Vincent shouted, and from the side of the street, just on the edge of the sunlight, the grass pokemon planted all four legs and unleashed a massive Solarbeam, the extra energy from the sun taking away the usual charge that the move required. Vinnies jacket flapped around him, and the force of the attack kicked up small bits of dust and debris that slammed into him with a surprising force.
The trainer lowered his arm to see if the tactic had worked, a drop of sweat sliding down his skin. His rival and best friend certainly had gained some gall and confidence in their time apart. That Aerial Ace might've put his Bayleef almost to the dirt had it been a critical hit.
"Now this is what I'm talking about," he thought as the glare from the sunlight attack subdued and allowed him to see what happened.

Jayden watched with satisfaction as Ninjask slammed into Bayleef. His plan had been a success and he was just about to allow himself to relax for a moment when he saw the change. Bayleef poofed out of existence and where he had once been laid a broken substitute doll. Jayden realized than that he had been tricked but there was nothing he could do.
Vincent call out his command and Jay turned to see Bayleef appear to his side and fire off a powerful solarbeam. The attack whipped his hair around on his head and Jayden watched as it slammed into Ninjask, engulfing it. As the light cleared Ninjask hovered slightly, its body covered in scrapes and bruises from where it had been hit. The smart bug pokemon had used Endure just before being hit and though it survived the attack it was a near thing.
Jayden watched as Ninjask shone a bright white once again, gaining the benefits of it's speed boost ability. Vincent had gotten the better of Jayden. He could still push Ninjask to fight, but in its condition it would be a short battle. Jayden picked out a pokeball from his belt and threw it as the dust settled.
"Ninjask, button pass." Jayden commanded.
The bug pokemon disappeared in a flash of red light and out from Jayden's pokeball burst his next pokemon. Pignite erupted from it's ball in a flash of white and flame and stood in the sunny streets grunting. Its body shone a bright white as it took the benefits of a twin speed boost.
Vincent's tactic were as good as ever, and even after their time apart Jayden could tell he had increased in strength and skill immensely. This was going to be a tough battle and Jayden felt himself start to sweat slightly as he prepared for the new round. Ninjask may not have won it's fight but it was still able to be of benefit to Jayden's team and he silently thanked it as he stowed it's pokeball on his belt.
"Pignite, Flamethrower." Jayden ordered.
The fire pokemon opened it's mouth and shot a stream of fire, amplified by the Sunny conditions towards Bayleef.
