Rules is Rules, and I promise that I won't make this painful <3
*ahem*
The Champion Grounds is a pretty relaxed site, following of course, the Proboards Terms and Conditions, as well as a few of our own. Our goal is to allow Role Players to have fun with their pokemon teams, to be able to have a few different characters (only as many as you can handle, please, and separate accounts for each character) and to not have to worry about too many specifics.
You can create your character with a history. They can be elite Pokemon Rangers, or expert Breeders, flashy Contest stars, or inquisitive Pokemon researchers, I don't care! They can be trainers working hard to collect badges, trainers sticking around in boarding school with hopes of becoming Gym Leaders, Bugcatchers, Super Nerds, Lasses, Fishermen, Cooltrainers...you get my drift, right?
When you fill out your application, it will be reviewed and you will be accepted or advised how to fix your profile! Your role play sample will determine whether you get a letter or not! (If the reviewing moderator feels that you are competent enough to participate in the tournament) So make it a good one!!! (length doesn't necessarily mean quality, either!).
If you don't get a letter, fret not! There's still plenty of stuff to do! Keep at it, work on your writing and role-playing skills, and maybe you'll get one before the first tournament starts!
Of course the administrations characters might seem a little lucky, or to have some really awesome pokemon, or seem a little 'too' strong, but we're "administrators," people! We reserve the right to be awesome because we have to fuel the plot that you, our wonderful posters, can join in on~
Other than that, the basic stuff applies. Don't control someone elses character, you can't decide what happens to someone elses character or pokemon (besides the rules of pokemon. Opponent can't dodge Swift, type-resistance is still in play, etc. If any problems arise, feel free to PM one of the staff and someone will gladly review your thread/problem). Don't hate, don't flame, maintain good grammar, NO LEGENDARIES (unless cleared with an Administrator).
Third person. Please.
Characters can be portrayed by either anime characters or high-quality drawings. The reason is: Pokemon are creatures existing in a cartoonish-fictitious state, wheres humans exist in real life. Its much easier to see and imagine humans in the fictitious world of the Pokemon than it is the Pokemon in the real world of the humans. We see anime characters all the time, but real-life Pokemon are just a hassle to think about.
We as Admins reserve the right to unleash the Ban Hammer on anyone.

other strange technical rules
+ In the event of a pokemon battle, the first poster of the battle sequence will post the rule set template of the battle, found in the announcements. In the event of an official, refereed tournament (challenging Gym Leaders or Pokemon Leagues) the rules of your battle will be posted in a tagged thread started by an NPC referee. You will post in this thread if it is your battle, it makes it easier for us to keep track of.
+ Do not post where you do not belong. If you didn't get a letter, don't post in the tournament or it will get deleted without notice.
+ You can have a character in more than one thread at a time, but they must be chronological. No using threads to alter time events or something like that. The password for the application is "2B a Master".
+ Any non-sanctioned battle does not need to be refereed, but must have the battle conditions still posted by whoever started the battle.
+ Be wary, any Pokemon battling outside of regulated conditions can end up very seriously wounded, crippled, or worse. No one is responsible for your Pokemon but you for trying to show off in the streets. The Champion Grounds tournament is going to be grueling. You read your invitation, right? You signed the R.S.V.P and the wavier, right? Some trainers or some Pokemon may not come out of this event alive.
+ Simbattles are available, and the rules and clauses that are set in place in the battle are all available for review.
+ No powerplaying/over exaggeration/ridiculous combo moves that defy physics/invincible Pokemanz/ trash talk (unless you two know each other and are just messing around. If someone is being harassed by trash talk, please let an admin know so we can make it right. There's a difference between just playing and being a jerk.
+ Respect other members and know that a staff member is always ready to help you if you have any questions!
Have fun!~

RULES REGARDING POST CONTENT
Keep it tasteful, but don't sweat the small stuff. If you or a staff member feels your thread is too graphic or obscene, it will be marked with an (M) to indicate this. Beside of the M, have a small word that describes a bit what your thread contains. For example, if your post contains violence, The tag on the end should look like this (MV). A simple abbreviation will do. You probably want to do it before the staff does, though. Any threads that have to be marked by staff will result in punishment to the posters.

=Moderately literate site, we all have bad posting days, I understand that, but if your posts are continually boring, uneventful, under 250 words, and/or breaking the rules, you will receive a warning. One more infraction and you will be given the boot for three days. Screw up again and your characters will be deleted.
